I do like green eggs and ham, Luke I am. Except I don’t really like ham very much, so I enjoyed replacing it with cheese. My girlfriend, Sarah, recently made them with a group of kids. She jokingly suggested making them for breakfast on Saturday, but she knew better to say the word green and have me not participate. So, green eggs and cheese for breakfast it was.
This picture simultaneously looks delicious and disgusting, in a way only Dr. Seuss could inspire.

We made them by beating 4 eggs with about 2 Tablespoons of half & half. Then, we added 3 drops of green food coloring and mixed it in. We transferred the oddly colored egg mixture to a lightly-greased skillet preheated at low-medium. After stirring occasionally for a while, we added some shredded cheddar cheese when they were about done. After they cooked a couple minutes more, they were deemed a little sickly looking. But they were good, and I do like the shade of green. They definitely provided nourishment for our day-trip to Cincinnati, which as I will explain tomorrow, demanded a ton of energy. (Hint: first time at an IKEA…need I say more? Well, I will tomorrow!)

Well, it’s finally Friday, and I’m ready to welcome the upcoming weekend and Spring Break which follows. I don’t have too much planned, but I like it that way. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post a few slightly interesting entries over the next week; my busy schedule has certainly gotten in the way of my post-writing skills.
I’m ready to take my camera in hand and capture the week ahead. I’m hoping to see pretty things and make some decent food. We’ll see…
Have a good one, everyone! Go ahead and look at the week in review:

Well, I’ve been tagged by Marichelle! I enjoyed trying to think of superfluous things about myself. As you will see below, I did not meet the 6 person tag quota. So if you happen to stumble upon this and want to do it, tag yourself.

Rules:
1. Link to the person that tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself.
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs.
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
Six random things about me:
1. I check to make sure my alarm is set about 3 or 4 times each night. (It usually doesn’t do me much good–it takes me about 6 snooze cycles to wake up.)
2. I almost always put my parking break on, even when I’m not parked on an incline.
3. I sleep with socks on and usually end up kicking them off either before I go to sleep or in the middle of the night.
4. I fell off of a pontoon boat into a lake when I was little.
5. I enjoy wearing bracelets every once in a while–they feel comforting to me.
6. I have an awful habit of not deleting e-mails. My inbox always looks so full and demanding of my time.
Here are the people I’m tagging:
So…I’m just going to tag one person, because I really don’t follow enough blogs right now. Or at least, I’m just a blog lurker. Plus, Marichelle already tagged me. I don’t think some of the design blogs I follow would be very amused.
So, Ariane (cue reaction)…it’s just you.

Well, blogger’s block hit me in the head again, so I’m going to have to rely on my good friend “Etsy Finds”.
Despite that introduction, which may have sounded a bit dull, I absolutely love this pillow! Birds, cherry blossoms, and green? Sounds like a perfect combo to me.

I highly advise checking out joom’s other pillows. They’re all quite beautiful and seem like things I would make if I could ever learn how to paint branches correctly. And birds for that matter…

To clarify, I’m not Catholic. The only reason I feel the need to clarify is so that I may present a weird part of myself. You see, about a year ago, I became slightly obsessed with the idea of praying the Rosary. In my own Christian beliefs, I find the meditative qualities of traditions to be highly spiritual. I became envious that Catholics got to do a meditative prayer using pretty beads. The solution? I made myself a Rosary and learned the “Hail Mary”. Hey, I’ve had to sing so many versions of “Ave Maria” that there could be no harm in learning the prayer in English. I’m such a rebellious Protestant.
Here’s the fruit of my obsession (now nearly a year old), using my favorite color scheme:

There. It’s out in the open.

Over the weekend, I went home and received my graduation gift from my parents, two months early! I picked out a laptop with my dad, and I’m glad they went ahead and gave it to me. It’s going to be nice to take back to school for the two remaining months I’m there. I’ll still love my beloved desktop, but it’s nice to have the mobility of a laptop. It’s a Toshiba Satellite 13.3″ Widescreen, and I love its small size. It has a nice shiny black exterior with a silver keyboard. And yes, its appearance had a partial impact on my decision.

Perhaps my laptop will inspire me to spontaneously blog while I’m out and about!

Welcome weekend, welcome Spring! Okay, so truthfully, I didn’t really welcome Spring in yesterday. To be honest, I don’t like Spring. Maybe it’s because I love winter so much, that I loathe anything that stops it. Sure, I love the flowers and blooming things, but I just don’t like overly warm weather; I feel like Spring exists to take Winter away from me and maliciously taunt me with tastes of Summer’s nasty heat. Eh, enough of my complaining and on to my find for the day!
I don’t want to wear out the “Etsy Finds” feature of my blog through over-use, but I just thought this one seemed too appropriate. When I was in Kindergarten and/or First Grade (I can’t remember which), slap bracelets were a huge fad. I remember, however, that the metal prototypes had a nasty tendency to poke through the plastic outer-wrap and become really sharp. The bright, neon colors of the early nineties make them seem even less appealing now. Luckily, Etsy seller beepbeephello made a very trendy looking slap bracelet, utilizing a recycled slap bracelet core and a knitted outer sleeve.

Because the bracelet core is recycled and the yarn is made out of wool and hemp, it’s environmentally friendly. The bracelet (and the photo in particular) looked very Spring-y to me. It all looks appropriate for the upcoming Easter weekend. Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, I hope you have a safe and happy one!

Since I’m just beginning my blog, I decided it would be appropriate to go ahead and post some back-logged things, so to speak. In other words, I’ll post things I’ve done in the past before I began blogging. This little guy was a gift to my girlfriend last year while we were apart over spring break. I had no idea what I was making when I made him, but I thought it’d be fun to give her a little homemade stuffed animal. He’s made of felt, polyester filling, google eyes, and an extra button from one of my dress shirts. I think she was a little taken aback when I gave him to her–I mean, it’s a stuffed peanut. He’s grown into quite the character, and his nubbish felt shows that he’s been loved.
I recently decided to enter him into our college’s literary and arts yearly journal on a whim. I doubt he’s what they are looking for, but I thought, what the heck. Might as well try. This is him, as a result of his little (low quality) photo shoot.

So there we have it, folks: my limited sewing skills and a crazy imagination mixed with some love.

Every once in a while, I’ll post an Etsy find that catches my eye. Today’s find made me originally think of my mom, who absolutely loves playing Scrabble. These keychains are also available as earrings from the same seller, XOHandworks. I think they’re a nice size for a keychain: not too large, but not tiny, either.

I like how one of these could make for a non-obnoxious monogram gift, suitable for a man or a woman. Finding it on Etsy added a nice bit of spunk to my day!

The other day, I randomly wandered into Value City Furniture in my quest to find a couch for my future apartment. The following couch was on clearence, in a beautiful brown.

They had one with a small scuff on the leg (fine with me…touch it up!) that was on sale for $450. While I was examining it, a salesperson said I could probably get it for $400. Agh! It seemed like a good deal for me, but I have no place to store it. It would get ruined in my parent’s basement, and it just wasn’t practical to get it when:
A) I could use my tax refund for more practical things,
B) I don’t even have an apartment for next year yet, and
C) I don’t even know what size I would need for the space.
Oh, well. I’m just glad to know I can find aesthetically pleasing, reasonably priced, starter furniture. In the meantime, I’ll continue to dream!
