Why chortles?

According to The Free Dictionary, a chortle is “a snorting, joyful laugh or chuckle.” My obsession with the word started when my friend Ariane and I began using it overly frequently in our conversations. The word soon became one of my favorite words. I think the word itself has a nice ring to it.

I purchased the domain about 4 years ago, but I never did much with it. At one point, I hosted a few fansites. Other than that, the domain’s been collecting dust. I’ve always liked the way the e-mail addresses look with it. Name [at] chortles.org makes it look like Name frequently chortles. In other words, leaving out the @ symbol, it reads as a subject and verb. I think I like that. Only recently did I decide to revive the domain into a blog about my life and random things I find that catch my senses.

I’m still not sure where this will all go, but I like taking chances every once in a while. We’ll see!

Let me explain...

chortles iconI often chortle in amusement. Since I'm easily pleased, the smallest things that catch my senses can quickly make my day. Chortles is a blog of my life, simplified to what catches my aesthetic; this sensory experience continues my ongoing quest to be as creative as I can be.
